Hello friend,

My name is Ke Nan and I am the author and illustrator of Beitonian Arbiters. Just want to quickly introduce myself here.

I was born and raised in Guilin, a beautiful city in southern China. My Chinese name is spelled 柯南, 柯 (Ke) meaning the stem of a plant, which is symbolic for a strong and protective outer surface yet a flexible and adaptive inner core. 南 (Nan) is less dramatic, it means South, which is pretty straight forward because we lived in the South. Fun fact: the spelling of my Chinese name is the exact same spelling as the world-renowned British writer Sir Arthor Conan Doyle, author of the famous detective series Sherlock Holmes. In China, it is extremely rare for a Chinese given name to coincidentally match a western name. More ironically, I became famous in school not because of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but the popular detective anime series Detective Conan.

I have learned the fundamentals of drawing and painting between the age of 4-14. Like most kids who were forced to learn a craft when they were little, I dreaded every minute of my experience as a young art student. However today, I truly appreciate the skills I acquired at my younger age so I can express myself as I create my fantasy world. I strive to keep pushing the boundaries of my craft in every new piece of artwork I create. I have a passion for creating my characters and seeing their development in the story.

I hope you enjoy your experience here at my humble virtual studio. I will update the website as the story develops so you can follow along as we go.
